FNO Hiatus...

But WHY?!
Ok I know why, but still, why?!
Fashions Night Out is a huge fashion event that ushers in Fashion Week in which stores in major locations (NY, LA, etc) stay open late and basically throw a little party for their shoppers. As you shop, you receive free drinks and listen to great music by cool Dj's and possibly mingle with celebrities.
However this year in NYC, there will be none of that.
FNO was originally created because of the recession and they wanted to give fashion lovers something to be excited about. Being that the recession is over, the NY stores feel that FNO is now just a waste of money. People come mostly for the partying and none of the shopping. Therefore, no FNO this year. Which sucks for the tri-state area because I know all fashion lovers were looking forward to this event (I sure as heck was!!).
NY is the fashion capitol of the world. For there to not be a FNO this year is just depressing. And it's JUST NY that's sitting it out this year.
There are way too many fashion addicts in the area for the to do this. Hopefully, the creators of FNO and the stores that take part in this glorious event have a change of heart.

Old Hollywood Babe

Little Explorer

Very patriotic Kennedi

Though these photos are unedited, I still think they are beautiful. I am currently without photo editing software but it doesn't stop me from sharing memories and wonderful experiences.
I enjoyed shooting these babes on their first real 4th of July (last year, they were all pretty much fresh out of the womb).
I love shooting babes and children because they haven't been tainted to constantly care about their appearance in photos yet. I adore their innocence and I want to keep these memories for them when they get older.

Summer Inspiration - African Print Attire

Because Solange is one of my main style icons, I've been very into African prints. Especially after this outfit worn at The Roots Picnic by Boxing Kitten.

Since then I've been on a non stop search to find inexpensive versions of African Print clothing.
Through y research, I've come across other designers that use the prints and inspire me to did deeper and look harder because the more I see, the more I want them and the more outfits come to mind.

Topshop has this African Print skater skirt (my favorite style of skirt) for $20 (on sale), however, it's no longer available in my size. I spotted it before it went on sale and it still wasn't in my size. (Is is just me or does everyone all of  sudden wear my size when it's time for me to go shopping?)

Stella Jean is the high end and expensive if the designers I've so far and my absolute favorite. The styles and prints are beautiful. Here are three of my favorite styles and items from the label.

You ever get the feeling that you're supposed to know something or have it? Well, Lianne La Havas (LOVE her!) posted a picture on Instagram of her and her band mates before a performance in Glastonbury and I had to find out who/what they were wearing but, I wasn't sure how until... I logged on to Twitter and guess who was on retweeting and responding to fans? The lovely Lianne. So I asked her and she responded!! They are wearing Bombe Surprise which is stationed in Europe and just as costly as Boxing Kitten but, just as worth it.

Here are my favorite pieces that I plan in owning before the summer's out.

Finally, I checked the ASOS Market Place (which I highly recommend) and TADA!!! The Feather Tree has several skater skirts and crop tops that are affordable however, and I am currently finalizing by purchases. But I need more!! So this isn't the end. And when my clothing arrives, I will model and post photos.

A Kiss Goodnight 3... And Your Gonna Love Me For It.

I've been looking for new music hard lately. And I haven't come across anything that really "gave me life". Until... I realized that I hadn't checked my SoundCloud page in a while so, there was bound to be some goodies on there.  It took a minute but, I found THIS!!

Thank you FADER Mag!! I clicked on it mostly because it's called, "Giraffage" and Giraffes are my favorite animal. It got me curious and it pleases my ear so much (listening to it now).

I'd definitely listen to this on a late drive through the city. It's really chill and groovy. But not the '70's "groovy"; it just gets you in a good groove with a slow head-bob and it brings a slow gin across your face 'cause it's just that cool.

Enjoy!

Late Night Discoveries...

Tis' 3 o'clock in the morning and I have discovered greatness!

First off, I said I was going to find out who/what brand Solange was wearing and I did. I found it on Tumblr searching through her tag because I knew someone on there had to have known. As, I was typing it into Google, it came up purple, meaning, I had found the brand before and totally forgot! I had a feeling it was the same brand, i just couldn't remember the name.  And then it got even better. The brand, Boxing Kitten, is sold at a store called, Dem Two Hands, in Montclair, NJ, which isn't far from me! With that being said, I'll be there soon.

My other discovery started when my sister asked my to find her a kaftan. I pulled up all of my fashion Google's (Polyvore, Etsy, and Svpply) and on Svpply, I found this vintage store called Lulu Tresors and UGH! So much vintage! I am in LOVE! I started to make a purchase but, coincidentally (because clearly God knew I was gonna end up purchasing everything) the shop will be closed from June 8th - July 12. Just in time.

I am posting the links so that you can discover it for yourself.

Hope you find something you like!
